At Living Science we are excited and enthusiastic about learning and about sharing that excitement with children and young adults. Our educational philosophy is built on Biblical principles and years of experience:
- We believe that parents have the primary responsibility for educating their children, and our job is to come alongside and support parents in that task.
- We believe that every child is made in God’s image, and is therefore worthy of love and respect.
- We believe that all children have a natural curiosity, and we seek to develop a love of learning in each one.
- We believe that teaching to all learning modalities helps all our students succeed.
I We believe that God is one in essence, but that He exists in three distinct and equal persons –
Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and that these three have precisely the same nature, attributes and perfections.
II We believe that the Bible is the inspired, complete and only word of God, and that both inspiration and inerrancy extend to every part of the writings as they came from God.
III We believe in God as absolute and sole creator of the Universe and that creation was by divine fiat, not by evolutionary process.
IV We believe that human beings were created by God in His image to enjoy His fellowship; that by their own choice, they decided to rebel against their Creator; that every person since that time has been born with a propensity to sin; that our personal sins cause us to have need of justification and redemption; and that sin is universal and without excuse.
V We believe that God in His sovereign choice and out of love for humanity sent Jesus Christ into the world to save sinners. We believe that we are justified before God simply by placing our personal trust in Christ, and that we are eternally secure in grace from that moment on. However, sin may interrupt the joy of our fellowship with God and may bring the loving discipline of our heavenly Father. We believe that there is no way of salvation other than through Jesus Christ.
VI We believe that Jesus Christ is both God and man; that His death paid a sufficient price to redeem any person who would believe in Him as personal savior; that He rose from the dead bodily; that He ascended to the right hand of God the Father; and that He is returning to the earth bodily and visibly to set up His eternal kingdom.
VII We subscribe to a literal six-day creation and a “young earth” viewpoint. This belief forms the basis of the worldview presented by Living Science and is integrated into all instruction.
VIII We believe that God created man and woman in His own image as male and female, and that marriage is the joining together of one man and one woman in a covenant relationship recognized by the state.
IX We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all of its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life.
X We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of Living Science Home Studies, Inc. and to provide a biblical role model to the students, teachers and parents of Living Science Home Studies, Inc. all persons employed by or who serve as volunteers of Living Science Home Studies, Inc. agree to and abide by this doctrinal statement.
XI This doctrinal statement of our faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of Living Science’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy and discipline, our President (Mrs. H.A. Penney Davis) and Administrator (Mr. Lance Davis) are Living Science’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.
